Customs generate N230bn revenue via unified system

Nigeria Customs Service

The Nigeria Customs Service, Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited Command has announced that it generated N230 billion in revenue through the Unified Customs Management System, also known as B’Odogwu, since its introduction in October 2024.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the Area Controller, Tenny Daniyan, during a courtesy visit by the Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria to the command.

He described B’Odogwu as an indigenous Nigerian digital solution that is set to revolutionize customs operations.

“B’Odogwu is working, and it’s working for us. We have realised over N230bn so far on the platform. If it’s not working with you, it means you are not doing the right thing,” he said.

Daniyan admitted that the new technology encountered challenges but noted that more than 90 percent have been successfully resolved.

He further stated that, as the pilot command for the platform, PTML has already overcome the majority of issues anticipated in other areas.

He said that B’odogwu is a more robust and more secure platform with some AI features that can help do a proper classification of things. And has some features that are not in NICIS.

Daniyan praised the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his confidence in driving the initiative, which he said has now become a source of pride for Nigeria and Nigerians.

He added that the platform is set to save the Federal Government billions of naira that would have otherwise been lost to capital flight through NICIS.

Earlier, the President of SCAN, Moses Ebosele, praised the CAC for his open-door policy and expressed gratitude for the positive relationship between PTML Customs Command and journalists.

He also commended Daniyan’s significant achievements, particularly in revenue generation and capacity building for stakeholders.
