Popular self-custody cryptocurrency wallets, Coinbase Wallet, is introducing a direct messaging option so users may communicate with one another on the platform.
Wallet owners can communicate with Ethereum accounts that have CB.IDs, ENS domains, or Lens profiles.
Additionally, it will enable NFT and POAP owners to communicate directly with other individuals who own the same asset as them. This might make it possible for new connections to be made that might not have been made otherwise.
XMTP, an open source messaging network, will power the encrypted messaging.
Future messages, conversations, payments, and profiles will all be stored in the portable inbox, which wallet holders can carry across applications.
Along with letting wallet owners block rogue accounts, dApps, and NFTs, the wallet also alerts users on how to be safe and will eventually incorporate transaction protections.
The wallet is accessible in more than 100 nations, according to Coinbase’s Q1 2023 shareholder letter.
