The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria has inducted 200 members to promote project management professionalism and accountability in the country.
The PUNCH reported that theĀ institute also promised to put an end to Nigeria’s escalating number of abandoned projects.
The registrar of the institution, Henry Mbadiwe, said at the induction event in Abuja that anyone implementing projects in Nigeria should become a member of the institute.
He went on to say, “We are going to begin to see fewer abandoned projects as long as they are managed by the individuals just inducted today” .
“Our job now is to start getting them to the point where they can be licensed.”
CIPMN ensures that unless you are a member of the institute, you cannot deliver projects in Nigeria. So it is now the responsibility of these persons to begin leading projects in Nigeria, as required by law.”
In a conversation with our correspondent, the event’s keynote speaker, Saidu Njidda, stated that establishing the institute a professional body in Nigeria will address the great majority of difficulties bordering on project failure.
“Things are going to change in Nigeria. We must accomplish what is being done globally in order for our programs to be successful in Nigeria, as well as the rest of the world,” Njidda predicted.
