The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, will head Nigeria’s delegation to the 2025 World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Washington D.C., which begin on Monday, October 13.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Cardoso will lead the team in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
The statement is titled, “Cardoso Leads Nigeria’s Delegation to the World Bank-IMF Meeting in Washington D.C.”
“Cardoso, as the alternate Governor, replaces the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, who is indisposed,” Onanuga stated.
He added that the Nigerian delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite.
Citing information from the World Bank, the statement noted that the Annual Meetings will feature the Development Committee Plenary session on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee meetings on October 17.
Other key activities will include regional briefings, press conferences, and forums on international development, the global economy, and financial markets.
