Flights in and out of Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport faced disruptions Thursday morning following a security incident.
NAV CANADA, Canada’s air traffic control agency, posted on X that police were investigating bomb threats at six airports across the country, including Ottawa.
“Early this morning, NAV CANADA was made aware of bomb threats affecting facilities in Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver,” the aviation agency said.
“As of 9:18 a.m., the agency said that after assessment by authorities service is “gradually resuming.”
It said some airports nationwide are expected to experience lingering delays on July 3.
Travellers are encouraged to check their flight status before going to the airport.
NAV Canada stated that service has begun to resume at some airports but advised travelers nationwide to check with their airlines for possible delays.
“Following the evacuation of a number of our sites and subsequent threat assessment by authorities, service is gradually resuming at affected sites. Travellers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest updates, as delays are expected. We thank airlines and passengers for their patience as we work towards normal operations,” the statement said.
