CAF raises funding for 54 member associations by 33%

The Confederation of African Football has increased its annual financial support to its 54 member associations, raising the maximum allocation per federation to $700,000 as it steps up investment in football development and institutional capacity.

The new allocation represents a 33 per cent increase from the previous $525,000 limit, continuing the gradual expansion of financial support to national football governing bodies under CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Since 2021, CAF has increased its annual funding allocation per member association from $200,000 to $700,000, representing a 250 per cent rise over four years.

The increase is part of CAF’s broader efforts to strengthen football administration, improve governance and promote financial sustainability across its 54 member associations.

Under the revised funding structure, each of CAF’s 54 member associations will be eligible to receive up to $700,000 annually.

At the maximum allocation, the total annual funding could reach approximately $37.8m, reinforcing the continental governing body’s commitment to football development and institutional capacity-building across Africa.

The revised allocation marks an increase from the previous annual funding limit of $525,000 per association.

The additional $175,000 per federation could translate into an extra $9.45m in annual funding across CAF’s 54 member associations.

The increase expands CAF’s financial commitment to football development programmes and strengthens its capacity to support national football governing bodies across the continent.
