The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced plans to deploy an Artificial Intelligence agent to address a backlog of 7,000 company registration applications and reduce service delays.
Registrar-General and CEO of the CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, revealed this on Monday during a stakeholders’ forum in Kano.
He stated that the AI agent will manage requests across compliance, registry, and customer service functions, providing faster and more accurate responses to overcome the challenges slowing service delivery.
“In a bid to tackle the backlog of 7,000 registration applications… an AI agent was in the pipeline to handle requests across compliance, registry, and customer service with speed and accuracy,” the Commission said in a statement quoting the Registrar-General.
Magaji acknowledged that the shift to the Commission’s AI-driven portal has faced challenges, with customers experiencing delays in approvals—particularly for services not included in the initial phase of deployment.
He noted that the delays were largely caused by the overwhelming number of applications the system has had to handle.
To boost efficiency, Magaji said the Commission will also deploy AI to manage the high volume of daily inquiries.
According to him, the system receives at least 3,000 emails each day.
The AI tool under development can read and understand these messages in under a minute, identify duplicate requests, and route them to the appropriate departments for faster resolution.
The Registrar-General reassured stakeholders that the Commission is working diligently to stabilise its newly launched AI portal and enhance customer satisfaction.
‘Problems have been identified, and solutions are already in motion,” he said.
In June this year, the CAC launched its AI-driven registration portal, designed to transform Nigeria’s business environment by simplifying company registration and speeding up approvals.
