British Airways and Singapore Airlines have suspended flights to the Persian Gulf, deepening travel disruptions after the US bombed three nuclear sites in Iran and Tehran threatened retaliation.
Flight data from Flightradar24 shows British Airways cancelled multiple Dubai-bound flights and rerouted two aircraft overnight.
A British Airways flight that departed Heathrow on Saturday night was diverted to Zurich after entering Saudi airspace early Sunday, while another Dubai-bound aircraft returned to London after reaching Egypt.
The airline also cancelled Sunday flights to Doha and suspended routes to Bahrain through the end of the month, citing operational constraints and airspace restrictions.
British Airways said the changes were made in response to recent events to safeguard passengers and crew.
A spokesperson for British Airways said, “As a result of recent events, we have adjusted our flight schedule to ensure the safety of our customers and crew, which is always our top priority.
“We are contacting our customers to advise them of their options while we work through this developing situation.”
Singapore Airlines said it cancelled two flights between Singapore and Dubai on Sunday, cautioning in a travel advisory that more services to the UAE could be disrupted as the situation remains unpredictable.
Last week, multiple U.S. and European airlines also suspended flights to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar after Israel launched strikes on Iran.
The developments underscore rising concerns in a part of the Middle East usually seen as stable and insulated from regional unrest.
U.S. President Donald Trump said American bombers targeted Iran’s three main nuclear sites on Sunday and warned of additional strikes, drawing the U.S. deeper into Iran’s conflict with Israel—despite his “America First” pledge to avoid new wars.
Spanish carrier Iberia has cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv through July 31.
Air France has suspended its Tel Aviv operations until further notice.
American Airlines has also halted all flights to Doha.
