The ride-hailing company, Bolt, has revealed that in the previous six months, it has suspended over 5,000 drivers for noncompliance and safety-related violations.
The Punch reported that Bolt’s country manager, Yahaya Mohammed, made this announcement at a press conference held in Lagos recently. He stated that the company was stepping up safety protocols on its platform, paying particular attention to drivers and riders.
He said Bolt had set aside more than N20 million to improve safety features, implement cutting-edge reporting systems, and carry out awareness campaigns for riders and drivers.
Mohammed also claims that the stringent compliance procedures are intended to guarantee safety standards and that non-compliant parties will face immediate repercussions, up to and including permanent suspension.
The security of every user on our platform is our first concern at Bolt. We understand the trust our users place in us, and we are taking proactive steps to ensure their well-being during every ride.
The country manager declared, “Our tightened safety protocols, more stringent compliance standards, and technology-driven solutions, reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe and dependable transportation experience for everyone.”
He said Bolt was still dedicated to providing the highest calibre of safety infrastructure for the mobility and transportation ecosystem.
“The business keeps preventing drivers and riders who have been reported for misbehaviour from using the platform indefinitely. The purpose of these operational adjustments is to improve users’ trip experiences and safety features on the platform.”
He went on to say that among the steps Bolt has taken to improve quality and safety on its platform are improved safety protocols, programs aimed at raising driver and rider awareness, more stringent compliance regulations, and sophisticated reporting systems.
