Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola has rallied behind Aliko Dangote, CEO of Dangote Refinery, amidst ongoing disputes with national oil regulators.

In a series of posts on X on Tuesday, Otedola echoed calls from various stakeholders urging the federal government to support industrialists like Dangote, akin to how other nations back their “local champions.”

Describing Dangote as a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s industrial landscape, Otedola highlighted his achievements, including building the world’s largest single train refinery and the second-largest sugar refinery globally. Emphasizing Dangote’s status as the country’s highest taxpayer, Otedola stressed the importance of nurturing such business titans during Nigeria’s early stages of industrialization.

He drew parallels with iconic American industrialists such as Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, and Henry Ford, who played crucial roles in shaping the US industrial sector.

Otedola also referenced similar support provided by governments in India, South Africa, and China to foster industrial growth in their respective countries.

Asserting the significance of recognizing and supporting local business leaders, Otedola asserted, “Aliko Dangote has shattered barriers in global business and industry,” underscoring his contributions as a testament to vision and opportunity. He called for continued support for these visionary leaders, arguing that backing local champions like Dangote is essential for Nigeria’s national development and economic autonomy.
