Biden moves to blacklist Huawei chips in US

President Biden’s administration is contemplating the blacklisting of several Chinese semiconductor companies associated with Huawei Technologies Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday.

Among the firms under consideration for blacklisting are chipmakers Qingdao Si’En, SwaySure, and Shenzhen Pensun Technology Co. Additionally, U.S. officials are deliberating over potential sanctions on memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies Inc.

If implemented, these measures would represent a significant escalation in the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China, particularly in the realm of technology and semiconductor manufacturing.

The move underscores the Biden administration’s efforts to curb Huawei’s influence in the global tech supply chain, citing national security concerns. By targeting key semiconductor suppliers linked to Huawei, the U.S. aims to restrict the Chinese company’s access to critical components necessary for its telecommunications infrastructure and consumer electronics products.
