The government of Bauchi State has declared that N100 billion has been set aside for the building and restoration of 200 km of state highways.
According to The Times, during a Thursday briefing on the results of the State Executive Council meeting, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Usman Garba, disclosed this information.
Garba disclosed that the initiation of the projects, comprising sixteen strategically important roads, was authorized by the state governor, Mr. Bala Mohammed.
The commissioner clarified that the projects included two flyovers in the busiest locations, Wunti and Central Market and that they would beautify and relieve congestion in the city’s central business district.
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Ibrahim Galadaima, emphasized the project costs for road building and rehabilitation.
Galadima said that N11.3 billion had been set aside by the state government to build the 29-kilometer Boi, Gambar, Sara, and Lere roads.
In addition, he disclosed that N20 billion had been set aside for the building of the two flyovers at the Central Market and Wunti regions.
Galadima revealed that N9.9 billion had been set aside by the state government for the reconstruction of the 29-kilometer Dindima, Yashi, and Maina Maji highways.
“We are also building a 42-kilometer road between Geljaule and Leme, which will cost N14.2 billion. Additionally, we will be dualizing a seven-kilometer stretch of road from A.D. Rufai College to Government Secondary School, Misau, which will cost N4.5 billion.
“We are building 4.6 kilometers of roads in Sabo Kaura, Birshi Gandu, and Bauchi Radio Corporation for N2.6 billion, and 2.6 kilometers of roads in Gwallameji, Doka, and Rafin Zurfi-Dass for N2 billion.
“It will cost N4.5 billion to build the 4-kilometer Zango and Gwalaga Mayaka roads, and it will cost N606 million to build the Sharia Court of Appeal in Bauchi City,” he continued.
Galadima also mentioned that N10.3 billion would be needed to dualize the 11-kilometer Kano Road between the Government Secondary School in Ningi and Gudduba. Additionally, N4.4 billion would be needed to dualize the road between the Emir’s Palace in Azare and the Satreco roundabout roads.
The commissioner said, “We also have to build the 2.6-kilometer Bauchi State University, Gadau internal road for N1.8 billion, and the Bayara-Garagajiba road at a cost of N2.6 billion.”
The renovation of 29 kilometers of the Adamami and Disina-Jama’are highways is estimated to cost N6.8 billion, while the 1.1-kilometer Bayara township road is estimated to cost N737 million.
The entire refurbishment and modernization of the Emirs’ palaces at Bauchi, Jama’are, Ningi, and Dass were also allocated N2.2 billion.
