The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has earmarked ₦7.46 billion in the 2026 budget for technology upgrades, workforce training, safety programmes, and operational reforms.
Details in the 2026 Appropriation Bill show that the funds will support the automation of ministerial operations, library and registry services, and performance management systems.
Planned projects include the deployment of a hybrid professional audio-visual conferencing system, digitisation of the e-library, enterprise content management solutions, and the development of a statistical database to enhance data analysis and support the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Staff welfare, capacity building and innovation also receive significant attention. The budget provides ₦50 million for legal resources and arbitration tools, ₦100 million for aviation operations training, and an additional ₦50 million for Fargo ID card printers and partnership-driven initiatives.
Spending on the construction of a corporate headquarters and staff accommodation exceeds ₦5 billion, underscoring the government’s push to strengthen institutional capacity.
Safety and international collaboration remain key priorities, with ₦3 billion earmarked for aerospace university development, ₦250 million for BASA/MASA bilateral agreements, and ₦100 million for training air traffic controllers, meteorologists, and other aviation personnel.
ICT enhancements, including AI applications and Wi-Fi upgrades across airports, receive ₦800 million.
Other allocations outside core operations include ₦300 million for consultancy on PPP projects and airport concessions, ₦200 million for additional office equipment and general service items, ₦150 million to support annual aviation trade union forums, and ₦500 million for minor studies, including master plans for five international airports.
