News publisher Associated Press disclosed on Thursday that it has established a partnership with OpenAI to share some news content and technology.
This is as the two companies explore the use of generative AI in news products.
“News organizations must have a seat at the table … so that newsrooms large and small can leverage this technology to benefit journalism,” Kristin Heitmann, AP’s senior vice president and chief revenue officer said.
According to a statement, the agreement entails OpenAI licencing a portion of the AP’s text archive in exchange for AP utilising ChatGPT’s technology. The statement also stated that AP does not utilise generative AI for its news reports.
