Army discovers stolen 1m litres crude oil in Rivers

The reservoir was discovered during a raid in Akwa-Odagwa in Rivers State, according to Brigadier General Garrison Commander of the 6 Division and Sector 3 Commander of Operation Niger Delta Safe, EU Effiong.

According to Channels TV, near the Akwa-Odagwa Etche Local Government Area in Rivers State’s Port Harcourt, the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has discovered yet another illicit oil refinery that is storing almost a million litres of crude oil.

He said “that the operation took place in the same region where, more than a month earlier, an illegal refinery was discovered.”

According to Brigadier Effiong, “the suspects set up shop at a different location as a result of the military’s previous attack on the village.”

About eight reservoirs and five cooking pots holding almost a million litres of crude oil were discovered at the illicit refinery facility in this most recent find.
