Android users can share tracker info with airlines to locate luggage

Google on Tuesday unveiled several new features for the Android ecosystem as part of its March software update for Pixel phones, known as the Pixel Drop.

One standout addition allows users to track lost luggage: by attaching a Find Hub-compatible tracker to their bags, users can now share a link with participating airlines to pinpoint the luggage’s location.

With the Find Hub app, users can select a lost item and tap “share item location” to generate a secure, unique link.

This link can be added to the airline’s app or website, enabling real-time tracking of the luggage as it moves.

Google says the link expires automatically after seven days, and sharing is turned off once your phone detects that the luggage has been returned to you.

Over 10 international airlines—including Ajet, Air India, China Airlines, the Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss International Airlines), Saudia Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, and Turkish Airlines—now support Find Hub locations to help track and recover luggage.

Google says it plans to expand partnerships with more airlines in the future.
The company also rolled out several other new features across location, calls, and education.

For example, Android users can now share their location directly in Google Messages, letting others see their real-time position on a map within the conversation.
