Amazon Web Services on Wednesday, said that it would introduce a sovereign cloud in Europe for use by the government and clients in sectors with strict regulations.
According to a statement from Amazon’s cloud computing division, the sovereign cloud will use servers housed in the European Union to store data, and only EU citizens working for AWS will be in charge of managing operations and providing assistance.
The usage of cloud-based services by the public sector was investigated last year to see if it complied with privacy precautions by the European Union, which has been at the forefront of privacy and security regulation.
Customers from the corporate and government sectors increasingly use the public clouds created by large internet companies instead of developing their own infrastructure. For European government customers, Microsoft and Oracle have also released their cloud-based offerings.
All European users will be able to use AWS’s service after its initial launch in Germany.
