Alibaba Group has launched its first consumer hardware product: the Quark S1 smart glasses.
Powered by its proprietary Qwen AI, the glasses feature translucent displays that overlay digital information onto the user’s surroundings, positioning them as a direct competitor to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses in the Chinese market.
This launch extends Alibaba’s ambitious reorganization into an AI-centric company.
It follows the successful debut of its consolidated Qwen app last week, which rapidly attracted over 10 million users by unifying its various AI services.
According to CEO Eddie Wu, the Qwen app has achieved “exceptional user retention.”
