Air Peace hosts travel partner forum ahead of Abuja–London launch

Air Peace funds still trapped in CBN - Onyema

Air Peace Limited, Nigeria’s largest airline and a leading aviation player in West Africa, hosted a high-level Travel Partner Forum on Monday at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, ahead of the launch of its Abuja–London flights scheduled for 26 and 28 October 2025.

The event brought together Air Peace’s top-selling travel agents, executive members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies, and representatives from global travel technology providers Amadeus and Sabre, underscoring the airline’s commitment to strong partnerships and its efforts to expand Nigeria’s footprint in international aviation.

A highlight of the forum was a detailed brand and route presentation by Air Peace Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Nowel Ngala, who emphasized the strategic importance of the London route, its potential impact on Nigeria’s travel market, and the critical role of travel partners.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, allowing stakeholders to discuss collaborative strategies to enhance sales and visibility.

In his goodwill message, Air Peace Chairman Dr. Allen Onyema commended travel agents for their support since the launch of the airline’s Lagos–London Gatwick service in March 2024.

He noted that their efforts inspired confidence for the Heathrow expansion and reiterated Air Peace’s broader mission of economic empowerment.

“Beyond offering Nigerians world-class travel choices, Air Peace is deliberately creating employment through initiatives like our Graduate Trainee Programme, which has already opened doors for thousands of young Nigerians across diverse disciplines. We are committed to building a steady pipeline of skilled manpower and empowering the next generation to contribute to Nigeria’s growth story,” Onyema said.

To build excitement, Air Peace announced complimentary seats for select travel agents on the inaugural Abuja–London flight, alongside heavily discounted fares during the introductory period.

“Our Abuja brothers and sisters will not only experience this service firsthand but also benefit from massive discounts designed to make the route accessible and sustainable,” Onyema added.

NANTA President, Mr. Yinka Folami praised Air Peace’s reliability and vision, highlighting the airline’s under-construction Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul facility in Lagos as a game-changer for Nigeria and Africa. He pledged NANTA’s full support, describing Air Peace as a “national project” that deserves collective unity.

Representatives from Amadeus and Sabre also endorsed the initiative, highlighting that Air Peace’s integration into their global systems—covering 160 countries and 55,000 agencies—would boost visibility and competitiveness for the new route.

The Abuja–London flights, complementing the Lagos–Gatwick service, represent a significant milestone in Air Peace’s global expansion strategy. The new route is expected to broaden travel options, stimulate tourism, strengthen Nigeria–UK ties, create jobs, and promote cultural exchange.
