African business leaders hit Lagos for energy transition talks

Leaders of various business organisations will gather in Lagos on Wednesday to speak on energy transition and sustainability in Africa.

Africa Interviews, one of the continent’s online media platforms, revealed in a statement that business executives would be the guest speakers at the first-ever Africa Interviews Sustainability Forum, according to The Punch.

The event, themed “Leading Sustainability in Africa: Empowering Nigeria’s Green Future”, will take place on June 5, 2024, in Lagos, according to a statement made available to The PUNCH read partly.

The guest speakers for the event include the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Providus Bank, Deoye Ojuroye; the Chief Executive Officer of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, Oladapo Filani; the Director, Governance & Sustainability, Sahara Group, Ejiro Gray; co-founder & co-chair, Lean In Equity and Sustainability, Lamé Verre; and the Director External Affairs & Social Performance, Seplat Energy, Chioma Afe.

“At the forum, these distinguished speakers will bring their wealth of local and international experience to addressing issues and enriching conversations around sustainability in Africa,” the organisers stated.

The organizers said that their perspectives will address topics such as community engagement, creative sustainability strategies, energy transition, and striking a balance between meeting the continent’s energy demands and the objective of reaching global #NetZero.

The organisers noted, “This inaugural edition promises to be a gathering of thought leaders, industry experts, and key stakeholders aimed at driving sustainability and energy transition in Africa. The forum will feature innovative dialogues aimed at fostering sustainable development while addressing unique challenges and opportunities across different sectors in Nigeria and on the African continent.

“The Africa Interviews Sustainability Forum is a unique platform to engage with leaders who are at the forefront of sustainability and energy transition in Africa. Attendees will gain valuable insights into innovative strategies, community engagement, and the balance between achieving #NetZero and addressing the region’s energy needs.”
