The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a budget proposal exceeding N583 billion for the 026 fiscal year.
The Council granted the approval during its meeting on Friday, which was chaired by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
The total budget stands at N583,331,380,496. It features a 64.07 per cent provision for capital spending, amounting to N373,690,964,682. The recurrent expenditure proposal accounts for 35.93 per cent of the total, which amounts to N209,640,964,682.
The details were provided by the Commissioner of Information, Mr. Iliya James, during an interaction with newsmen following the SEC meeting at the Government House, Yola. The commissioner explained that the proposal is a “Budget for Sustainable Growth and Economic Renewal.”
Regarding the presentation of the fiscal bill to lawmakers, the commissioner said, “We hope to present it soon to the House of Assembly.” This presentation is pending the return of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who is currently out of the country.
The budget is specifically tailored to accelerate the progress of ongoing projects, among other objectives, to ensure their timely completion.
Emphasising the administration’s commitment, the commissioner also stated, “The administration is making sure that all projects are completed, as we don’t want to leave any abandoned projects.”
