Access Bank Plc has appointed Oluseyi Kumapayi as Deputy Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, and Olanrewaju Bamisebi as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation, in a move aimed at strengthening its operations, improving profitability and expanding its technology-driven services.
The appointments took effect on 27 and 28 October, respectively, following approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria, according to a regulatory filing signed by the bank’s Group Company Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi.
He said Mr Kumapayi’s elevation would reinforce the group’s efforts to improve the performance of its African subsidiaries, while Mr Bamisebi’s appointment would align technology leadership more closely with the bank’s operations, customer needs and business priorities.
Access Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Roosevelt Ogbonna, said the lender was focused on building a more productive, efficient and profitable institution by optimising its capital, technology and established market presence.
He said the bank would focus on improving returns from its African subsidiaries, streamlining technology platforms, enhancing operational reliability and speeding up innovation to deliver better customer experiences at lower costs.
Access Holdings said the appointments formed part of its shift from a growth strategy centred on scale to one focused on value creation, profitability, capital efficiency and sustainable shareholder returns.
Having established a significant banking presence across Africa and selected international markets, the group said its focus was now on maximising the value of existing operations through stronger subsidiary performance, disciplined capital allocation and technology-driven productivity.
It added that moving executive responsibility for Information Technology and Digitalisation from the holding company to Access Bank was aimed at aligning technology transformation more closely with banking operations, customer service, revenue generation and cost management.
