Abuja DisCo demands N41.7bn debt payment from 86 MDAs

Eighty-six Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies have received a ten-day notice from Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc requesting payment of an astounding N41.7 billion in outstanding debt.

According to Nairametrics, AEDC notified eighty-six Federal MDAs of their intention to disconnect in a ten-day notice through a circular titled “Notice of Disconnection,” which was released on Monday.

As of December 2023, N41.7 billion in outstanding debt was reported in the circular.

The distribution company claims that the prior effort to force the ministries to settle their unpaid bills was ineffective.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service, the CBN governor, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Federal Ministry of Health were all mentioned by the Discos in their writing in the publication.

In addition, the circular stated that “the MDAs have been given ten days to pay or  have their service removed from the Discos
