Abia to launch electric transport system July — Otti

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that the state’s new transport system will commence operations before the end of July.

Speaking at the Promise Kept Carnival, an event jointly organized by the Aba Business Community and the Landlords Association to mark the completion of the Port Harcourt Road reconstruction in Aba—Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to overhauling public infrastructure and promoting clean energy.

He revealed that the transport initiative would kick off with 20 fully electric buses and the completion of several modern bus terminals strategically located across the state.

“In not more than two months, our transport system will be up and running. If you move around the city, you’ll see the terminals already under construction,” the governor stated.

He emphasized that the buses, which have already been paid for, are of international quality, aligning with global standards in public transportation.

Governor Otti described the initiative as a significant milestone in the broader effort to modernize Abia’s infrastructure while supporting environmental sustainability.

Also speaking at the event, Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, commended the administration’s progressive policies. He assured that the legislative arm would continue to provide the necessary support to realize the government’s rebuilding agenda.
