The Central Bank of Nigeria has authorized the appointment of four new non-executive directors to Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc.
The Times reported that this information was contained in a notice sent by the company to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public.
The directors are Mr. Obinna C. Ufudo, Ms. Jewel Okwechime, Ms. Chika Ochonogor, Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe, and Mrs. Chika Ochonogor, all of whom are non-executive directors.
Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe is an experienced banker with over 30 years of experience gained from various banks and financial institutions such as Magnum Trust Bank, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, and United Bank for Africa Plc, among others, according to a statement signed by Company Secretary, Geoff Amaghereonu.
She is particularly skilled in information technology, performance evaluation, treasury management, and corporate strategy. She was an Executive Director at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems before she retired. She graduated with an LL. B. from the University of Lagos in 1985 and an MBA in Banking & Finance from ESUT Business School in 1998.
She also holds certificates in corporate-level strategy from Harvard Business School and Global Management from INSEAD Business School Spain (2014-2015), to name a few.
Ms. Jewel Okwechime has a BTech degree from Halton College in Cheshire, England, and an M.Eng in Chemical and Bio-Process Engineering from the University of Surrey in Guilford, England. Performance optimization, sustainability business development, project management, risk management, and environmental engineering are among her key skills.
She worked as a Senior Environmental Adviser at Worldwide Energy in Western Australia, a Director at J&R Environmental Services in London, UK, and a Senior Environmental Consultant at Atkins Global in Warrington, UK. She works with Deltic Africa as the Managing Director.
Dual-qualified attorney, Ms. Chika Ochonogor, has over 15 years of experience in both corporate and private practice. She is an enthusiastic self-starter who excels at negotiation, leadership, and communication.
Her professional experiences include working for Unilever Limited in the UK, Edwards Wildman Palmer in London, UK, Aluko & Oyebode in Lagos, among others.
She graduated with a master’s degree in international business law from the University of Toulouse, France, and an LLB from the University of Kent Canterbury. She is currently the Lead Consultant at Filament Consulting in Toulouse, France’s Lagos.
Mr. Obinna C. Ufudo is a management expert in multiple sectors with vast expertise at the board level. His thirty years of post-graduation professional experience include positions in banking, human resources, organizational design, financial strategy, and business turnaround.
He graduated with a B.Sc. in Finance from Enugu State University of Technology, an MBA from the University of Navara in Spain, and an M.Sc. from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom in International Securities Investment & Banking.
He served as Transnational Corporation of Nigeria’s President/CEO. In addition, he serves as Chairman of Loan Book Limited and Atiat Limited.
