Petrol cost average N191.65 per litre September– NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday revealed that consumers paid an average of N191.65 for a litre of petrol in September.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria, as obtained from the Petrol price watch for the month of September 2022, the average price for petrol saw a 16.26 per cent increase over the N164.85 paid in September 2021.

“Comparing the average price value with the previous month of August 2022, the average retail price increased by 1.15 per cent from N189.46.”

According to the NBS, Kano State paid the highest average retail price for gasoline in September at N207.50, followed by Jigawa at N205.62 and Bayelsa at N204.

Delta consumers paid the lowest average retail price per litre of gasoline in September, at N179.74, followed by Edo at N183.17 and Borno at N184.

In its “Diesel Price Watch” for September 2022, the NBS also reported that the average retail price per litre was N789.90.

The September 2022 pricing is a 210.20 per cent increase from the September 2021 price of N254.64 per litre.

The September 2022 price increased by 0.38 per cent month-over-month compared to the August 2022 price of N786.88 per litre.

According to state profile assessments, Ondo State had the highest average diesel price in September 2022 at N859.23, followed by Ebonyi at N849 and Niger at N841.67.

Katsina State had the lowest price of N710 per litre of diesel, followed by Yobe at N725 and Bayelsa at N726.67.

While the North-Central had the highest price at N811.24 per litre of fuel, while the South-South recorded the lowest price at N762.74 per litre.
