Access Bank names new executive director for risk management

Access Bank Plc has appointed Ifedayo Olaniyi Orimoloye as its Executive Director, Risk Management, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Access Holdings Plc, the parent company of Access Bank, announced the appointment on Friday, stating that it took effect on September 21, 2026.

Orimoloye brings more than 25 years of risk management experience across financial institutions in Africa, Europe and the United States.

Before joining Access Bank, he served as Group Chief Risk Officer of the African Development Bank, where he oversaw a portfolio valued at more than $40bn.

In that role, he contributed to strengthening the bank’s risk management framework and supported the institution’s continued AAA credit ratings from Moody’s Investors Service, S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings.

His expertise spans enterprise risk management, capital optimisation, credit governance, regulatory compliance and strategic transformation.

Before joining the African Development Bank, Orimoloye held senior risk management roles at Sterling Bank Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Wells Fargo Bank, HSBC and Citigroup.

Access Holdings said Orimoloye also played key roles in capital and securitisation transactions, including initiatives focused on expanding access to renewable energy across Africa.

He holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance, as well as an MBA in Finance, from California State University, Hayward.

Group Chairman of Access Holdings, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, said Orimoloye’s international experience would strengthen the bank’s risk governance as it expands its operations

The holding company said the appointment further underscores Access Bank’s commitment to strong governance, prudent risk management and sustainable value creation for stakeholders.
