The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector by improving safety, expanding infrastructure, enhancing passenger experience, creating jobs, and strengthening stakeholder engagement.
The commitment was reiterated during the Second Quarter 2026 Hybrid Stakeholders/Citizen Engagement on Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverables in the Aviation Sector, held at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority conference room in Abuja, according to a statement from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mahmud Kambari, said the engagement underscored the ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, collaboration and innovation in implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Kambari said the quarterly engagement was more than a routine meeting, describing it as a platform where government officials, industry operators, development partners and citizens assess progress, exchange ideas and chart the future of Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace sector.
Kambari said the ministry had made significant progress in delivering presidential priorities and ministerial targets, particularly in strengthening aviation safety and security, expanding critical infrastructure, modernising airports and air navigation systems, promoting local content and job creation, and improving the passenger travel experience.
He described the aviation sector as a key driver of national development, saying it supports trade, tourism, investment, regional integration and global connectivity. He added that sustained collaboration among government, private sector operators, development partners and citizens was vital to building a resilient, efficient and globally competitive aviation industry.
He added that the engagement provided an opportunity to review achievements, identify emerging challenges, draw lessons from implementation, and gather feedback to strengthen policy execution and improve service delivery across the aviation sector.
Kambari urged participants to offer constructive recommendations and innovative ideas to support evidence-based policymaking and accelerate the ministry’s strategic objectives.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to developing an aviation sector that meets and exceeds global standards, adding that the ministry remains focused on driving economic growth, creating sustainable jobs, attracting investment, and delivering world-class services to both domestic and international travellers.
Kambari also thanked stakeholders for their continued support, expressing confidence that the outcomes of the engagement would translate into concrete actions to strengthen collaboration and drive the growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
