Google unveils AI features for Google TV, adds YouTube shorts feed

Google on Wednesday unveiled a new set of AI-powered features for Google TV, including a dedicated short-form video feed that brings YouTube Shorts directly to the home screen.

The update is anchored on expanded Gemini capabilities.

Inside the Gemini tab, a new “Create” button allows users to experiment with generative AI tools such as Nano Banana and Veo.

The features are initially launching on Gemini-enabled TCL TVs in the United States, with wider device support expected in the future.

Nano Banana, Google’s image generation and editing model, allows users to modify photos through simple voice prompts.

It can change outfits, replace backgrounds, or even generate entirely new scenes.

Google is framing it as a social, living-room feature, encouraging lighthearted prompts, such as asking the AI to put “my dad in a ridiculous outfit”—to spark fun reactions with family and friends.

Veo, meanwhile, enables users to generate short video clips from scratch or bring still images to life based on text descriptions.

For example, a user could prompt it to “make my grandfather moonwalk in space,” and the model would animate the scene accordingly
