The Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority has urged motorists to exercise proper care in maintaining their vehicle number plates to ensure readability and longevity.
This advice was given by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LSNPPA, Mr. Olayanju Cole, during a meeting with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency. The LASCOPA delegation was led by its General Manager/CEO, Afolabi Solebo.
The statement was shared via a post on the official Lagos State X account on Friday.
During the engagement, Cole emphasized the importance of number plates to motorists, stating that “your number plate is your identity on the road.”
The meeting addressed growing concerns over faded, damaged, or illegible number plates on vehicles across the state.
Participants discussed the necessity for motorists to promptly replace old, defective, or worn-out plates with new standardized number plates issued by the Lagos State Government.
Cole specifically warned against the use of harmful substances and materials when cleaning number plates. He cautioned motorists to avoid chemically concentrated substances such as aromatic solvents, alcohol-based spirits, acetone, petrol, brake oil, kerosene, or any abrasive materials, as these can cause irreversible damage and render the plates unreadable.
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, through the meeting, reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding the rights of motorists and promoting better service delivery throughout Lagos State.
