Paystack has unveiled The Stack Group, a new parent holding company designed to unify its expanding portfolio of tech-focused businesses across Africa.
This development comes after the fintech firm expanded into financial services through its acquisition of Ladder Microfinance Bank.
In a statement on Tuesday, Paystack said TSG will bring together all brands associated with the company, with founding shareholders including Stripe, Paystack CEO and founder Shola Akinlade, and existing Paystack employees.
Agreements formalizing TSG as the parent holding company were signed in October 2025 and are still awaiting regulatory approval.
The company said that TSG’s creation builds on the recent launch of Paystack Microfinance Bank in Nigeria.
Operating as a standalone bank, the microfinance unit enables the group to internalise key financial infrastructure and offer banking and credit services to its merchant network.
Under the new structure, TSG will serve as a corporate umbrella for multiple complementary businesses across financial and technology services, while each entity remains operationally independent.
The company stated that its businesses will be guided by shared values and a “deep understanding of building technology products to address Africa-specific challenges.”
Commenting on the launch, Paystack founder and CEO Shola Akinlade called the move a strategic step toward the company’s long-term vision.
“The launch of TSG signals a larger scope of ambition for us and sets the tone for the next decade of our company,” Akinlade said.
“Having worked with thousands of companies across the continent since 2016, it is clear that there are significant opportunities to support businesses beyond payments, and TSG enables us to address the challenges African companies face.”
He praised Stripe’s continued partnership, thanking the company “for their faith in Africa’s potential and in our capacity to create transformative technology companies across the continent and beyond.”
The launch comes five years after Stripe’s $200 million acquisition of Paystack in 2020.
