The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has generated over N50 billion in Internally Generated Revenue for 2025, significantly surpassing the N38 billion figure recorded in 2024.
The Minister, Mr. Dele Alake, confirmed this notable achievement on Friday while officially unveiling the One-Gov Cloud digitisation project at the Mining Cadastre Office headquarters in Abuja.
He explained that the new One-Gov Cloud platform is designed to facilitate the transition of agencies from paper-based to automated systems, thereby supporting secure and efficient operations across the Ministry.
Minister Alake attributed the substantial revenue increase to ongoing sector reforms, which are driven by digital tools and new policies, positioning the ministry for a threefold revenue growth across its agencies.
He highlighted that the Mining Cadastre Office alone generated N30 billion for 2025, a sharp increase compared to the N12 billion recorded in 2024, attributing this rise to innovation and commitment within the agency.
The Minister quoted himself saying: “That is the trajectory we have set for the sector. Mines inspectorate revenue is up, and other revenue departments have also improved.”
He further added: “Last year, we recorded about N38 billion. This year, we have crossed N50 billion already, and we are still counting.”
Minister Alake described the official launch of the One-Gov Cloud as a major milestone, emphasizing that these digital reforms are vital for achieving stronger service delivery and improving government efficiency.
He stressed that the sustainability of these reforms would require the right attitude and a nationwide mental reorientation among staff to properly protect and maximise the newly introduced tools.
According to him, high-end digital equipment demands careful handling by all users to avoid damage and protect the substantial government investment.
The Minister commended the MCO’s performance and urged Galaxy Backbone, the technical partner, to swiftly resolve any initial challenges to ensure seamless operations of the new digital system.
Mr. Obadiah Nkom, the MCO Managing Director, confirmed that the agency’s N30 billion revenue for 2025 was a direct reflection of sector-wide reforms and the strong backing received from the Ministerial leadership.
He noted that this support has earned the MCO significant recognition from various public and private bodies, including several awards for innovation and digitisation efforts.
Mr. Nkom extended appreciation to Galaxy Backbone for providing the essential technical support, which guaranteed the successful and smooth deployment of the One-Gov system.
Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, stated that the MCO is the very first department within the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to successfully go live on the centralised One-Gov Cloud platform.
He assured that the agency would continue to provide technical assistance and necessary training to the MCO staff to enhance the overall value and utility of the system.
Professor Adeyanju described the One-Gov Enterprise Content Management System as a secure tool that will strengthen record keeping processes and significantly improve workflow transparency within the Ministry.
