TikTok has rolled out a new suite of features aimed at bolstering user safety and supporting content creators, as part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen platform governance and retain trust amid increasing scrutiny from regulators and parents alike.

In a statement released Wednesday, the short-form video platform—owned by China’s ByteDance—announced expanded parental controls through its Family Pairing feature.

The update allows parents to block specific accounts from interacting with their teens, receive automatic notifications when public posts are uploaded, and gain more insight into their teen’s privacy settings.

These measures come amid growing global pressure for social media platforms to protect young users.

TikTok’s move appears to be both a compliance strategy and a brand positioning effort to assure stakeholders of its commitment to digital safety.

The company also launched a new creator-focused feature called Creator Care Mode.

This AI-powered tool automatically filters offensive or inappropriate comments and learns from a creator’s past moderation behavior to fine-tune future filtering. Creators streaming on TikTok Live can now also mute users who post certain flagged phrases, offering more control over live audience engagement.

Additionally, TikTok officially launched Footnotes, its in-app fact-checking tool designed to combat misinformation—a growing concern as the platform plays an increasingly influential role in public discourse.

With these product updates, TikTok is reinforcing its dual focus on user well-being and creator empowerment, while laying groundwork to navigate regulatory hurdles in key markets such as the U.S. and Europe.
