CAC defers fee changes, cites users difficulty with new portal

CAC to delete inactive companies in 90 days

The Corporate Affairs Commission has deferred the implementation of its revised service fees to September 1, citing transitional difficulties encountered by users.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday titled, “Postponement of Implementation of New Fees and Penalties for Document Downloads.”

The CAC stated that, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth operation of its upgraded Company Registration Portal—and in response to feedback from customers and stakeholders—it has decided to postpone the implementation of the new fees and penalties for document downloads beyond seven days.

“Originally scheduled to take effect on 1st August, the enforcement will now commence on 1st September, 2025, including the penalty for downloads after 7 days,” the statement partly reads.

The move follows the CAC’s recent announcement of a service fee review, which was initially scheduled to take effect in August.

The Commission explained that the fee adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, improve operational efficiency, and respond to prevailing economic realities.

In an earlier notice, it attributed the review to rising operational costs and broader economic pressures.

According to the Commission, the decision was prompted by observed “transitional challenges” currently being experienced by some users—particularly in areas such as document downloads, payment processing, post-incorporation filings for Business Names, and the upload of certain required documents.

The Commission assured that it is actively collaborating with its technical partners and stakeholders to stabilize the system while keeping the portal fully operational.

“This temporary relief is part of our commitment to supporting businesses and ensuring a seamless user experience during this transition phase,” the statement added.

The Commission expressed gratitude to users for their patience and understanding during the transition period.
