Louis Vuitton confirms cyberattack targeting UK customer data

Luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton has confirmed that a cyberattack has compromised the personal data of some of its United Kingdom customers, marking the latest in a string of cybersecurity incidents targeting global retailers.

The company, a flagship label under French luxury conglomerate LVMH, disclosed on Friday that an unauthorised third party gained access to its UK operations’ systems.

Information accessed includes customer names, contact details, and purchase histories.

Louis Vuitton assured customers that no financial information, such as credit card or bank details, was compromised in the breach.

The company which last week stated that its Korean operations had been hit by a similar cyberattack.

“While we have no evidence that your data has been misused to date, phishing attempts, fraud attempts, or unauthorised use of your information may occur,” the email said.

The company said it has informed the appropriate authorities, including the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office.

According to Bloomberg, which first reported the incident, the breach occurred on 2 July.

It marks the third cybersecurity breach involving LVMH systems in the past three months.

In addition to the two attacks on Louis Vuitton, LVMH’s second-largest fashion house, Christian Dior Couture, disclosed in May that hackers had accessed some of its customer data.
