Netflix and TF1 have announced a new partnership that will allow Netflix to stream both live and on-demand content from the French broadcaster in France.
Starting in summer 2026, the deal will include access to TF1’s free-to-air channels and its streaming platform, TF1+.
This marks a major step in Netflix’s expansion strategy in France, adding a wide range of local programming to its platform.
In addition to premium dramas like Broceliande and Erica, viewers will gain access to TF1’s popular daily soaps (Demain nous appartient, Ici tout commence), reality shows, hit entertainment formats like The Voice, and live sports events.
Bringing TF1’s content into its lineup represents another step in Netflix’s evolution, as the platform aims to widen its appeal in France, where its subscriber growth is plateauing and its reach now matches or surpasses that of traditional free-to-air broadcasters.
“This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience,” said Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters, unveiling the agreement at the Cannes Lions festival on Wednesday. “By teaming up with France’s leading broadcaster, we will provide French consumers with even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and to stay with us for all their entertainment.”
The new distribution agreement further strengthens the partnership between TF1 and Netflix, who have previously co-produced a number of series, including Les Combattantes, L’Agence, and Tout le bleu du ciel.
In 2023, they teamed up on Tout Pour La Lumière (All for Light), Netflix’s first daily drama for the French market.
“I am delighted about this new partnership with Netflix, with whom we have already established strong relationships through ambitious co-productions in recent months,” said Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of TF1 Group. “As viewing habits shift toward on-demand consumption and audience fragmentation increases, this unprecedented alliance will enable our premium content to reach unparalleled audiences and unlock new reach for advertisers within an ecosystem that perfectly complements our TF1+ platform.”
