Meta in talks to invest over $10b in startup Scale AI

Meta splits AI division to accelerate product development

Meta Platforms is reportedly in advanced discussions to invest over $10 billion in Scale AI, a fast-growing artificial intelligence data labeling startup.

The deal, which could significantly bolster Meta’s AI capabilities, remains under negotiation and terms may still shift, sources familiar with the matter, according to Bloomberg.

Founded in 2016, Scale AI has emerged as a key player in the AI ecosystem, providing high-quality data labeling services and a platform for AI researchers to collaborate.

The company, valued at nearly $14 billion in its last funding round, counts tech heavyweights Nvidia, Amazon, and Meta among its backers.

Scale AI’s platform supports a global network of contributors across more than 9,000 cities and towns, facilitating the exchange of critical AI-related insights.

Neither Meta nor Scale AI commented on the report.

The potential investment signals Meta’s aggressive push into AI innovation, aligning with its broader strategy to integrate advanced AI technologies across its platforms.

If finalized, the deal could reshape the competitive landscape of the AI sector.
