Elon Musk’s home sparks dispute with Texas neighbours

Elon Musk’s Texas residents are locked in a growing dispute over Musk’s $6 million property, which has been transformed into what some locals call a high-security compound, The New York Times reported.

The conflict began after Musk’s team allegedly erected a 16-foot chain-link fence, installed a metal gate, and mounted surveillance cameras — all without securing the necessary construction permits.

“I call that place Fort Knox,” said Paul Hemmer, a Tesla owner, retired real estate agent, and president of the neighborhood homeowners association. Hemmer lives directly across the street from Musk’s property and has become a vocal critic of the changes.

Locals say the once-quiet street is now disrupted by armed security personnel and their vehicles. The situation escalated further when Musk’s team reportedly filed a police complaint against Hemmer, claiming he was seen naked in the street. Hemmer disputes the claim, saying he was on his own property and wearing underwear. He admits to flying drones over Musk’s home in search of ordinance violations.

“If you follow him at all in the news, he’s always guilty of building stuff and then asking for permission later,” Hemmer remarked during a recent planning meeting, voicing a concern shared by many neighbors.

With Musk expected to return from Washington, West Lake Hills residents are bracing for what may come next in the standoff with their famous — and increasingly controversial — neighbor.
