Lagos, Axxela partner to improve energy infrastructure

Axxela Limited, a leading energy solutions provider in sub-Saharan Africa, has announced plans to partner with the Lagos State Government to tackle energy challenges and improve power reliability across the state.

The announcement was made during a recent visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina, according to a statement posted on the company’s website on Monday.

Axxela, through its subsidiary Gaslink Nigeria Limited, has been at the forefront of private-sector natural gas distribution, extending Lagos’ gas infrastructure by over 170km across major industrial and commercial centres.

By offering a cleaner and more cost-effective energy solution, Axxela is supporting businesses in lowering operational costs while advancing Nigeria’s decarbonization goals.

Its robust gas distribution network has attracted new industries, empowered existing businesses to grow, and driven economic development, resulting in increased tax revenues for Lagos State.

In addition to gas distribution, Axxela has showcased significant expertise in power development, delivering Independent Power Projects for the Lagos State Government in Akute, Alausa, and Lagos Island.

Most recently, it completed a 5.8 MW power project for Cadbury Nigeria, further solidifying its role in enhancing energy reliability for industries.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, during a meeting with Axxela’s management team, reiterated the state’s dedication to fostering an investor-friendly environment.

He assured the government’s support for Axxela’s efforts to expand energy infrastructure and advance sustainable development in Lagos.

The Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, stated, “We take pride in driving energy security and significantly contributing to Lagos State’s energy hub. Lagos is strategic to our business, and our initiatives are directly supporting industrialisation and promoting environmental sustainability. Our goal is to continue to collaborate with the state government to bridge the energy gap. Our AGI facility in Ikeja and expansion along the VI-Lekki corridor reflect our commitment to sustainable energy solutions that empower industries and reduce carbon emissions.”
