The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, emphasized the nation’s commitment to sustainable and innovative aviation solutions.
Keyamo made this pledge
at the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s inaugural Advanced Air Mobility Symposium.
The three-day event, themed “Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Global Harmonisation and Interoperability: Challenges and Opportunities.”
This is part of ICAO’s DRONE ENABLE programme and focuses on advancements such as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and vertiports.
Keyamo, leading the Nigerian delegation, highlighted the symposium’s significance, stating, “This symposium is timely and presents an important opportunity for Nigeria and other nations to learn from each other’s experiences as we navigate the challenges and embrace the opportunities presented by Advanced Air Mobility.”
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with ICAO and other stakeholders to integrate these technologies into the national aviation system in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner.
The Nigerian delegation, including the Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Chris Najomo, and representatives from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria is engaging with international counterparts and industry leaders from countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, and Ghana to exchange insights and build new partnerships.
