The global affairs head at X, Nick Pickles, announced on Thursday that he will be leaving the company after ten years.
Pickles, who joined the social media platform formerly known as Twitter in 2014, revealed that he had decided to step down several months ago and has been working closely with CEO Linda Yaccarino to ensure a smooth transition.
“After more than ten years, tomorrow will be my last day at X. It’s been an incredible journey,” Pickles said.
Details about his future plans and the reasons behind his decision to leave were not immediately available. Both X, which is owned by Elon Musk, and Pickles did not respond to Reuters’ inquiries outside of regular business hours.
In a related development, Joe Benarroch, X’s head of business operations, departed the company in June, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Pickles began his career at X as a senior manager in the London office and was promoted to Vice President of Global Affairs in 2023. His LinkedIn profile highlights his role as a spokesperson for the company in various global matters, including recent controversies.
The Financial Times reported that Pickles had been involved in high-profile disputes with governments, notably including Brazil. Last week, Brazil suspended access to X within the country after the platform missed a court-imposed deadline to name a legal representative.
The suspension followed a clash between Musk and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has called for stricter regulations on hate speech, a stance Musk has contested.
