The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has declared the commencement of E-tag sales, allowing entry into the 24 federal airports nationwide, starting today, May 17, 2024.
This announcement was disseminated through a statement shared on FAAN’s official social media account, formerly known as Twitter.
As per the statement, the sale of E-tags is in line with a presidential directive ratified during the recent Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, mandating toll payments at the gates of all federal airports across the nation.
“Following the Presidential Directive mandating citizens to procure E-Tags for access to all 24 Federal Airports nationwide, we hereby inform the public that E-Tags are available for purchase from Friday, May 17, 2024,” the statement excerpted.
Moreover, the statement elaborated that motorists lacking E-tags will have the option to make cash payments at the access gates before entry.
It also provided details regarding the acquisition of E-tags at the international airports in Lagos and Abuja.
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, interested individuals can obtain E-tags at the Office of the Head of Department of Commercial Operations, Terminal 1, 5th floor, or by contacting 08033713796 or 08023546030.
Similarly, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, E-tags are available at the HOD Commercial Office at the General Aviation Terminal, or by reaching out to 08034633527 or 08137561615.
The FEC meetings held on Monday and Tuesday saw the approval of 21 policies and projects aimed at stimulating the economy, fostering investments, and enhancing the ease of doing business in the nation.
One of these approved policies mandates toll payments at the gates of all federal airports nationwide, without exceptions, including for the President and Vice President.
According to a post by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, the approved policies and projects from the recent FEC meeting were highlighted.
With the FAAN E-tags, motorists can gain access to federal airport gates for one year, while those without an E-tag will need to pay cash at the gates for entry. The exact cost of each tag is yet to be disclosed at the time of this report.
