Meta on Thursday, announced the initiation of testing for two highly requested features on Instagram: drafts and an in-app camera. Instagram head Adam Mosseri mentioned that these features are currently accessible to a limited number of users.
For users granted access to the drafts feature, they can save a single post at a time. The process involves composing the post in the usual manner, and by swiping down, users can save it as a draft. In the Threads app, a distinct composer icon appears in the bottom bar to indicate the presence of an unsent draft.
In conjunction with the drafts feature, Mark Zuckerberg shared a photo using the new in-app camera shortcut, accessible through the composer. This shortcut streamlines the process of quickly posting a photo to Threads. However, it remains unclear whether basic editing functions, such as image cropping, are available through this shortcut.
This update aligns with ongoing considerations for adopting Threads-styled carousels to showcase images, a development indicated by app researcher Nima Owji.
Threads, with over 130 million active users, aims to enhance engagement by introducing additional tools. Earlier this month, the platform introduced trending topics and initiated testing for cross-posting functions from Facebook.
