The Federal Government has scheduled February 29th, 2024 for the announcement of the 2nd cohort of the 3 Million Technical Talent program.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, shared this update on Monday, highlighting that the selected fellows will commence their training in March.

Expressing the government’s commitment to the program, Minister Tijani emphasized the support received from partners and stakeholders. The 3MTT initiative aims to train 3 million Nigerians in technical skills, contributing to the country’s digital economy.

In addition to announcing the new cohort, the Minister revealed plans for job placements for the first cohort of fellows. Over 1,400 organizations have shown interest in hiring graduates from the program, aligning with the objective of connecting technically trained talent with employment opportunities.

The 3MTT program aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda, focusing on building Nigeria’s technical talent to fuel its digital economy and position the country as a net talent exporter. The first phase involved collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency and included various stakeholders, such as training providers, partners, and placement organizations.

The program’s initial phase aimed to train and place 30,000 technical talents, representing 1% of the overall target. The training covered diverse skills, including Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms Navigation, Data Analysis, Visualisation, Search Engine Optimization, CRM Management, Accounting Software, Graphics Design, and UX/UI Design.

As the 3MTT program progresses, it plays a pivotal role in empowering Nigerians with technical expertise and creating opportunities for meaningful employment in the digital landscape.
