In a joint statement on Thursday, Nokia and Dell Technologies announced their agreement to work together to support the rollout of private 5G networks and the cloudization of networks.
Individual organizations often own, operate, or lease private 5G networks.
Over time, users of the telecom equipment manufacturer’s cloud-focused data center division, Nokia AirFrame, will switch to Dell PowerEdge servers, which are “purpose built for modern telecom network workloads,” they said.
In an effort “to advance open network architectures in the telecom ecosystem and private 5G use cases among businesses,” the companies will deepen their current collaboration by integrating NDAC with Dell’s NativeEdge software platform.
A method to computers and communications known as “open network architecture” enables a product, such as software, to operate with another product, such as a mobile phone, even though they are created by different manufacturers.
Nokia’s chief strategy and technology officer, Nishant Batra, stated, “Our continued collaboration with Dell will help address the future needs of our customers brought on by the increasing demands on networks and provide solutions to help communications service providers scale modern networks to the cloud,”
According to the companies, their collaborative efforts in research and development will persist, encompassing platform and application testing under the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab.
