Shazam, the music identification app owned by Apple, has introduced a new feature that enables users to identify songs while wearing headphones, as announced this week.
To use this feature, simply open the Shazam app and look for the headphone icon to verify if your headphones are connected.
This functionality allows users to recognize music playing in their surroundings or from applications like TikTok and YouTube.
It is compatible with both wired and Bluetooth headphones. Once activated, the music will briefly pause, allowing Shazam to identify the track. Users can then revisit the app to find out the song’s title and artist.
Previously, Shazam had the capability to identify songs playing within other apps, a feature introduced last year for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
However, this was not possible when using headphones until this latest update. Founded in 2002 and acquired by Apple in 2017 for $400 million, Shazam has grown substantially, now boasting over 300 million monthly users worldwide.
This latest update marks another step in Shazam’s evolution, offering an enhanced experience for its global user base.
