Hardware company, Humane, has declared that it would be laying off 10 workers, or 4% of its total staff.
“As we begin this new chapter of Humane, going from stealth to customer facing, we are making some changes to best prepare us for continued growth,” CEO and co-founder Bethany Bongiorno wrote in a LinkedIn post.
This development is coming before any of its innovative new artificial intelligence products would be launched.
The chief technology officer will also be “transitioning” into an advisory position after five years with the company.
Humane was founded in 2017 by former Apple executives Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri. The company raised money from well-known backers, such as Sam Altman of OpenAI, before revealing its project to the public in June of last year: the Ai Pin, a wearable with a lot of sensors and AI-smarts along with a projector that can project information onto any surface.
Humane has not disclosed the identity of the new CTO or even whether one would be appointed.
