One of Nigeria’s leading airlines, Air Peace, is set to start direct connectivity from its Lagos hub to Cotonou in Benin Republic and Abidjan in Ivory Coast on January 22, 2024.

This will increasing the total number of regional destinations to ten in less than a decade of regular aircraft operations.

This information was revealed in a news release released by the airline’s Spokesperson, Stanley Olisa, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, who stated that the additional routes were further confirmation of the airline’s uncompromising desire to connect the entire continent and facilitate economic success on the continent.

Olisa claimed that Air Peace is launching new routes, including Abidjan-Dakar, Cotonou-Dakar, and Abidjan-Cotonou, in addition to the ones that are already scheduled to start.

He noted that the route itineraries are now available on the airline’s website and mobile app, and customers can begin booking to take advantage of the unique launch fares.

Air Peace currently leads Nigeria’s aviation business, with a network of 21 domestic routes, 8 regional and 6 international destinations, and an expanding modern fleet of over 30 aircraft, including 5 brand new Embraer 195-E2s and a recent company order for 5 brand new Embraer 175s.

Air Peace was founded in 2013 by Nigerian lawyer and businessman Allen Onyema. Onyema claimed that he started the airline with the intention of using it as an engine to provide economic opportunities to Nigerian youth.

The airline began operations with Dornier 328s and Boeing 737s. In 2017, the first international route to Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana was launched. By 2018, Air Peace had the largest market share in the domestic airline market in Nigeria. That same year, the airline took delivery of its first Boeing 777s, and it commenced flights to Sharjah in 2019. Flights to Johannesburg, South Africa commenced in 2020.
