Nipco Gas Limited has announced the opening of an auto Compressed Natural Gas station in Kubwa, Abuja, which will supply affordable and ecologically friendly transportation fuel.
The PUNCH reported that the station began operations over the weekend, according to the company, and it is an affirmation of the company’s desire to ensure widespread availability of car CNG across the country.
“As the nation grapples with the challenges of fuel expenses and environmental sustainability, and seeks cleaner energy alternatives, Nipco Gas is at the forefront of driving positive change in the country’s energy landscape,” the company said in a statement on Sunday.
It said, “This newly commissioned station exemplifies the company’s mission to drive positive change in the country’s transport sector. The organization believes that the path to a more sustainable future begins with innovative efforts. The opening of the Kubwa AutoCNG Station demonstrates our commitment to action.”
The company stated that auto CNG, which is known for its low cost and much fewer carbon emissions when compared to traditional fuels, was positioned as an example of environmentally responsible transportation.
The Managing Director of Nipco Gas Ltd, Nagendra Verma, stated that the company is committed to increasing CNG accessibility throughout Nigeria.
Verma expressed confidence about the benefits of expanded CNG usage for both the environment and the economy.
As part of its efforts to make gas Nigeria’s energy transition fuel, the Federal Government has been working to make CNG widely available across the country.
The CNG program is being used by the government as a strategic move to diversify the nation’s energy mix and lessen Nigeria’s reliance on conventional fuels such as petrol and diesel.
It intends to capitalize on CNG’s promise as a cleaner and more cheaper alternative for usage in automobiles across the country.
