An Italian telecom company, Fastweb, announced on Monday that it intends to assist its corporate and public administration clients in creating artificial intelligence tools by creating a large-language model trained in native Italian.
“A group of generative AI experts will work through deep learning systems to develop an LLM based on large sets of data in the Italian language,” Fastweb said.
“This new LLM will be a nation-specific platform for the development by Fastweb and third parties of an extensive range of generative AI application”, it added in a statement.
In addition to putting a sizable NVIDIA AI-powered supercomputer in place at its top data center in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, Fastweb said that it will also make this technology available to other parties via its cloud services.
